Christ Church wants to engage with environmental issues and seeks to be an active agent in caring for our world. We aim to do what we can to make a difference and support charities that are beneficial to the environment.
Currently we are proud to have taken the following steps:
Christ Church is proud to support the Tearfund Toilet Twinning Programme which supports sanitation projects by pairing existing toilets in our church with new latrines built in impoverished areas. As of August 2018, all of our church facilities are now twinned. For more infomation, see the Toilet Twinning website.
In 2017, Christ Church became one of the first churches in Nottinghamshire to house solar panels on our church roof. Our Solar Panel System will help us to reduce our carbon footprint and can be monitored here.
Where possible, we prioritise the recycling of paper and card, plastic glass and tin cans. We also currently collect the following items as a registered collection point for terracycle:
- Biscuit wrappers
- Air Freshener packaging and used containers
For more information, please visit the Terracycle website.
We have recently replaced a number of our lights with LED ones and will continue to do so as funds become available. This will improve our energy efficiency rating and will consume around 90% less electricity to power each light.
